How to get to Barra de potosi

COME AND VISIT Barra de Potosi

Barra de Potosí is a small beachside village which is nestled at the southern end of Playa Larga beach and about 20 minutes south of the Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa airport and 35 minutes drive from the seaside fishing village of Zihuatanejo. Barra de Potosi boasts some wonderful sea food restaurants, a number of small hotels and a variety of rental properties from simple to elegant. It is also the location of our famous wild life sanctuary lagoon.

By Bus

You can catch the Omnibus bus to Petatatlan and asked to be let off at the Barra de Potosi turn off at Los Achotes. You can get the Petatlan bus from the small depot on Calle Las Palmas street just across from the Bancrecer bank which is on the main street of Zihua.

It should take about 30 minutes including stops along the way to dropoff and pick up passengers.

From that drop off point on the main coastal rd. Rt 200, you can catch a ride on the shuttle (covered pick up with seat bench's) that makes the run from the main road to the beach about every 30 minutes. That last leg to the beach which is partially paved and part dirt road should take about 15 minutes. Another option is to go by taxi. Cost should be about $ 300 and the bus cost about 30 pesos (approximately) "Taxi rates shown are as effective Feb. 1, 2006. Subject to change"

Arrival at the beach at Barra de Potosi... Here you can find excellent views, as view of White island (Isla Blanca) from shore at Barra de Potosi. The home and nesting place for tens of thousands of local seabirds and a favorite snorkling spot. And view from the Barra De Potosi lagoon and bird sanctuary looking towards the village.

If you are staying at a place in Barra de of potosi where you will have your own kitchen. We suggest a stopover at Commercial Mexicana Supermart to stock up on basics, there is very little available in the way of any serious food shopping in Barra de potosi.

This will be difficult (if not nearly impossible) to do if you are using strictly bus transportation from airport to Barra de potosi. However, if you are hiring a Taxi at the airport, you should first ask for a flat price to Barra de potosi and after establishing the price ask him how much extra he would charge for a stop over at Commercio Mexicana to do some shopping. Make a deal based on the time you will be there in ½ hour increments.

NOTE: We advise that one-person stay in the taxi with your luggage and/or you get the drivers full name and the Taxicab number.
